Meet Marguerite Darcy.
Marguerite is a Paris native turned Stockholm explorer, with a passion for the great outdoors and tasty food. Get to know her!
Marguerite, what makes working at Improvin’ exciting?
The best part is knowing I can have a positive impact through my work.
Working at the intersection of food and sustainability feels meaningful since food plays such a huge role in how we connect; and as a French, it’s a big part of my culture.
Food production is a pretty new territory for me. Growing up in Paris, I didn’t have much exposure to seasonality or how our food is grown. I’ve since gotten a taste of it through inspiring farm workaways abroad.
I love the nature of my role: building and nurturing relationships, getting to know new people, and helping them get the most out of their journey with us.
Why did you decide to join the team?
It was basically love at first sight. I knew I wanted my next role to be at an impact company, but I was struggling to find one that truly "walked the talk."
When I first saw the job ad, I got a feeling that this was for me. And once I was in the process, all other opportunities paled in comparison. I even thought: If I don’t get this, do I even want another job?
Meeting the team sealed the deal. My manager's passion for the industry was infectious, and I knew I had the right skills to help out.
How has the journey been?
It’s been a high-speed train! I joined during one of our busiest seasons, but even then, everyone took the time to make me feel seen and answer my questions.
I’m amazed at how much I’ve learned in just a few months. It's already confirmed that my gut feeling was right. I feel so lucky to be part of a team that genuinely cares for one another.
What are your interests outside of work?
Before moving here, I lived in Annecy for 6 years, surrounded by mountains and lakes, so outdoor sports have become my go-to: hiking, skiing, and cycling.
I’ve gotten really into bikepacking. It’s amazing how much further you can get on two wheels, and how homey a tent can feel! So far, my big tours have been Portugal, Corsica, and Denmark, and I’m hoping Turkey is next. 🚲
Food is my other big passion. I love cooking to share, but otherwise I’m more in the ‘love to eat’ camp. One of my favorite recipes is a Middle Eastern one, Shakshuka. It can be made in so many different ways.
I’ve also been making my own peanut butter lately, which I could just eat by the spoonful. 🥜
3 things that you’re looking forward to?
⛸️ I’ve gotten really into ice-skating, and tried it on a frozen lake for the first time last weekend. I’m happy to have found a local sport that takes me outdoors!
🚜 I’m excited to learn more about the wider context of agriculture. What feeds the world? What are the challenges and the opportunities?
🇸🇪 I’m still fairly new to Sweden, so I’m having fun discovering Stockholm. I can’t wait to see what the summer in Scandinavia has to offer!
