Meet Niklas Wallsargård - CEO of Improvin'
Meet Niklas, the founder and CEO of Improvin’, and an avid fly-fishing enthusiast. Growing up, Niklas envisioned himself in the coast guard rescue, but it eventually took one engineering degree and some time at CERN until he discovered his true calling.
Niklas, what is the best thing about being a founder of Improvin’?
We have the opportunity to work on solving one of the largest problems in the world: producing more food, more sustainably, for more people, with limited resources.
Although working with it is already rewarding, the absolute best part is definitely the people. It’s amazing being part of building the foundation for a diverse and highly skilled team.
What is your favorite Improvin’ ritual?
I really enjoy our off-site events and our monthly social activities. It’s always great fun to spend time with the team outside of work and try new things together.
We’re curious about your unusual hobby: Fly-fishing. Please elaborate!
Every summer, I make it a priority to set aside at least four days for a fly-fishing trip with my friends. The fish begin their hatching season towards the end of June, and casting my line when it happens is just magical.
We always strive to minimize our environmental impact by taking care of the rivers, streams and their surroundings. Most of what you catch, you of course let go, too.
3 things that excite you right now?
🌾 There’s a huge mindset shift happening: both consumers and the industry are becoming increasingly curious about the emissions associated with food and food supply chains.
🤖 We’re witnessing the beginning of a new technological era. GPT-4 applications and language learning models are revolutionizing businesses across various industries, including ours.
⌛ Watching my young daughter grow up has been remarkable. As a parent, I've gained a whole new perspective on time. Right now, it passes by way too fast.
