Meet Jacob Morén - COO of Improvin'
Say hello to Jacob, the COO of Improvin’. Jacob has a background in engineering and a passion for innovation. Away from the office, he swaps his laptop for skis, venturing into the unexplored slopes of powdery mountains.
Jacob, what's the best thing about your role?
For me, it boils down to translating technology into something that provides value for people. I find it really exciting to solve complex problems with people who have different backgrounds and skill sets.
We’re crafting something novel that doesn’t yet exist, and that requires thinking outside the box. There’s never a single way of doing a task; exploring is a big part of the thrill.
Creating value that scales is a huge challenge, and an opportunity. I’d say that it’s easier to do that on a small scale and succeed. The real game-changer is succeeding in having a wide impact.
That’s also what excites me the most. We have the potential to leave a significant positive impact on the world; a healthier climate, a better food system, and improved biodiversity.
What is your favorite Improvin’ ritual?
Meeting the team at the office, especially on Mondays. Hearing about their weekends and getting a fresh start for the week. That fuels me. I’m an office person.
You have an unusual hobby: backcountry skiing. Could you tell us more about it?
Backcountry, also known as top-touring, means climbing up summits and skiing down through the powder snow.
Growing up, I was all about snowboarding and even worked as an instructor. After trying backcountry skiing, I got completely hooked. I was 20 then, and I haven’t touched a snowboard since.
Backcountry combines many things I enjoy: Great cardio, beautiful scenery, challenging orienteering, demanding risk management and a great time outdoors with my friends. We tour mainly in Sweden and Norway and choose destinations you can reach by train or car.
My all-time favorite spot is Lyngen in Norway. You start the climb by the shore, climb +1000 m up to a summit, and get to enjoy a magnificent view over the fjords before skiing down. I’ve been there 4 times and I will never get tired of it.
3 things that excite you right now?
🌱 It’s really motivating to see businesses continuing to prioritize climate initiatives, despite the current economically challenging times.
🥳 We're expanding our team, and I can't wait to welcome more talented individuals onboard. Building the team is incredibly exciting.
🕺🏻 I'm taking bugg dance classes with my partner. It's always a joy to learn something new, and dancing is a great way for us to bond and have fun together.
