Meet Pauliina, the Marketing Lead at Improvin’ whose passion for sustainability stems from her onion farming roots. When not working on all things marketing, you'll likely find her hunting for second-hand gems. 

Hi Pauliina! What do you enjoy the most about your role?

Definitely the sheer diversity of my daily tasks and responsibilities.

Being a marketer in a startup comes with a combination of autonomy and accountability. You quickly learn to trust your gut, as often there’s no clear playbook to follow. I’ve definitely taken enormous leaps professionally already, and we’re just getting started.

Having a clear purpose and working with a talented team is a huge motivator, too.

I grew up in a farming family; my father is a retired onion farmer, so I’ve spent a fair share of my life with my hands in the soil.

That background has made me passionate about food, and particularly about sustainability. So, working with sustainability in the agri-food sector feels like a perfect fit.

Your favorite Improvin’ ritual?

The off-sites we organize from time to time have all been awesome, as well as our spontaneous after-works. We have a lot of fun in and out of work.

We’ve heard you’re into second-hand fashion. What are your Stockholm insider tips?

1. Stockholm Stadsmission at Mariatorget. My go-to spot and the origin of some of my wardrobe staples. Although, finding the real gems requires patience and frequent pop-ins. 

2. Beyond Retro at Zinkesdamm. Great for high-quality retro jeans, funky prints, summer dresses and theme party outfits. 

3. Myrorna at Ropsten. This 3-floor second-hand store has everything: clothing, shoes, interior design pieces, furniture and electronics. A delightful place to spend a slow Sunday. 

3 things that excite you right now?

🎤 I’m a huge Eurovision Song Contest fan. I’m still disappointed Finland didn’t get the win they deserved, but at the same time stoked about Stockholm hosting the spectacle next year.

🐠 I could happily spend all my summers swimming, so I’m really excited about that season starting. My 2023 summer goal is to swim at least once every day.

🏡 I’ve just bought my first apartment and I can’t wait for making it mine.
