Meet Per-Anders Legeryd - Senior Product Engineer at Improvin'.
Per-Anders has a rich background in engineering and team leadership. When not at work, you’ll likely spot Per-Anders in the audience of the latest theatre production, or the funky new dance performance - the one you wish you had seen, too.
Per-Anders, what makes work at Improvin’ exciting?
We have a great team and culture. Everyone at Improvin' is purpose-driven and passionate which makes the work fun.
A great place to work combines a good culture, exciting professional challenges and an interesting product. For me, Improvin’ is one of those places.
We have a highly skilled team and commitment from exceptional clients. Overall, many things are falling into place.
What made you choose Improvin’?
I was looking for a company with a sustainability profile, similar to my first job after university.
Many businesses that I met early on in my career in the sustainability space had the greatest of intentions and were driven by fantastic people, but lacked viable business models. Our opportunity to create value for a broader network was a significant factor drawing me to Improvin’.
I wanted to work with something I believe in with people I believe in.
More thoughts about the team? 🌱
The team is very friendly and ambitious, with high integrity.
It’s also a team-oriented team, and I enjoy working in such a setup. Everyone is humble. No task is too small, and we prioritize getting things done.
Being nice and empathetic at work is often underestimated. I think there is incredible power in how you approach your customers and colleagues. Being nice isn’t just about agreeing; it’s also about taking a step back, reflecting and taking a stand.
I think this team excels at that.
What are your out-of-office interests?
I’m a big consumer of culture, especially music and dance.
Since my late teens, I have spent a lot of time in concerts and at festivals. If I had to pick a favorite dance piece, it would probably be ‘I New Then’, which is Johan Inger’s choreography to Astal Week by Van Morrison – one of my many favorite records.
I played a lot of ball sports as a teenager, but later on, I moved on to dance and martial arts. I enjoy physical activity and feel off when I don’t prioritize it.
Of course, nowadays, much of my time is dedicated to my partner and son. I love building things with my son, whether it’s lego flowers or fantasy worlds in our living room.
3 things that excite you right now?
💼 Even if I really like being a manager, it feels great to be a software engineer again. I’m re-learning old skills and picking up new ones. Professionally, the progress we’re making with Machine Learning is very interesting.
🌟 We're heading to London at the end of this month with my partner Emelie to see LCD Soundsystem.
👾 I have been building Pico-8 games with my son - great fun for both of us.
