Meet Steffen Zitzmann - Account Executive DACH at Improvin'
Steffen, the passionated runner, enduro-biker and live music fan relocated to Stockholm and Improvin' from the picturesque Zurich. Get to know him! 🌱
Steffen, what's exciting in your new role?
This role feels like a circle closing.
I was introduced to the agri-food industry already through my studies, and I stayed in the business for more than 10 years - always in a cooperative context, staying close to the farmers and the origins of the products. I’ve also experienced the magic of software while working at large tech companies.
Now, I’m at this thrilling intersection; combining food and tech, driven by the potential to create a significant, positive impact in the food value chain.
What made you choose Improvin’?
Well, the funny thing is that when I saw the job ad, I thought:
“Wow, they’re describing me.”
Throughout the process, I had a strong feeling that this was a unique opportunity.
I was highly convinced about the product, the market and the timing from the start as I understand firsthand the pain of collecting Scope 3 data from a supplier network that could be thousands of suppliers.
I felt a genuine, personal connection with all Improvin’ employees whom I met during the interviews, and I value that highly.
You spend so much time with your colleagues that choosing a team where you feel that kind of sense of belonging is worth a lot.
What are your first impressions of the team? 🌱
I had the chance to travel to Stockholm a few months before starting at Improvin’. Meeting the team face-to-face felt incredibly natural and welcoming. It’s a group of smart, down-to-earth people with a high level of professionalism.
Relocating to Stockholm was not just a career move: it has marked a new start in my life. The whole process has been a fascinating personal challenge.
Most of the team is younger than me, and very engaged in environmental sustainability. The discussions we’ve had have inspired me to reevaluate my own habits, and I really appreciate it.
We’ve heard you’re an enduro biker - tell us about it! 🔥
I had an enduro in my early twenties, and it gave me so much joy. So one day last year, I went to the local dealer.
“Here, try this one”, they said - and that was it, I was back on the bike.
I’ve been riding my bike around the mountains of Switzerland, and now I’m really looking forward to exploring the Scandinavian landscape with it.
3 things that excite you right now?
🇸🇪 Being new to the country, I’m now diving into the Swedish language and culture. And exploring Stockholm, of course - although I’m already planning visits to the other cities.
🎤 I was raised with Abba, and I used to sing in the choir, so I’m looking forward to the local live music and singalong events.
👟 My morning routine is running, and when you run the same tracks often, you start noticing the smallest changes. I can’t wait to witness the spring arrive in Stockholm.
